EXCLUSIVE: TLC’s Niecy Nash’s Wedding Bash special is spawning a followup series. The cable network has ordered 8 half-hour episodes of a docu-series that will chronicle actress/comedienne Niecy Nash and her new husband Jay Tucker’s life together as a blended family with Niecy’s three teenage children and her mother, and Jay’s son. “There’s a lot of love in our house, but also a lot of mayhem and foolishness – all the kids are acting crazy, I’m busier than ever, and Jay’s never raised girls before,” Nash said. “We hope our fans welcome us into their homes… we need the room!” In addition to starring as a real-life wife and mom in her TLC docu-series, Nash is also poised to play one in a TV Land comedy series. Nash, repped by WME and Principato-Young, was recently cast to play Cedric the Entertainer’s wife in the network’s Hot In Cleveland spinoff, which has been ordered to pilot.
The two-hour Niecy Nash’s Wedding Bash special, which captured Nash and Tucker’s nuptials, drew almost 5 million viewers on TLC in June. The series, produced by Shed Media US, will premiere in early 2012. “This series will reveal the journey of bringing a blended family together, and Niecy brings her heartfelt and often hysterical views of being a hard-working mom, wife and daughter, TLC’s GM Amy Winter said. “Our audience shared in her beautiful and boisterous wedding, and will now get to see what’s happening after the honeymoon.” Earlier today, TLC announced an eight-episode order to Irish Dancing Tweens, a new reality series targeted for next summer set in the world of competitive Irish Dance.
