EXCLUSIVE: Max and Caroline are getting a neighbor. Jennifer Coolidge is joining the cast of CBS’ hot freshman comedy 2 Broke Girls as a recurring. She will play Sophie, a hardworking woman that moves into Max (Kat Dennings) and Caroline’s (Beth Behrs) apartment building in Williamsburg Brooklyn. It is a role that is being created specifically for her. ICM-repped Coolidge, probably best known for her MILF part in the American Pie movie franchise, once guest starred on the HBO comedy Sex And The City, which was run by 2 Broke Girls‘ co-creator/showrunner Michael Patrick King.

I’m usually hard to please, but I’m really liking this show. I know the puns shouldn’t make me laugh, but a lot of Max’s quips do sound like me and my friends. (Needs less racist humor, of course.) It’s nice to finally see a show that’s not about two young women obsessed with love and sex! Love Jennifer Coolidge so this is extra exciting.
Not obsessed with sex? This show is an endless parade of dick/vagina and rape jokes. Do you actually listen to what these characters are saying? Still I enjoy looking at Kat Dennings and am happy Garrett Morris is working, so I watch.
Wow, it’s like I wrote this comment myself. There’s at least one unfunny rape joke, 1-5 unfunny racist jokes, then just a glut of sex jokes in every episode. The show is really hacky but I love Kat Dennings, I really do.

Boo hoo….the ‘racist’ jokes are very funny…all races make fun of each other….its only racist if theres hate and anger directed towards the races…stereotypes are based on real things…white people can’t dance, asain people can’t drive and african americans are super good at basketball…lighten up you uptight conservatives….
No, they’re not funny. I wouldn’t complain if they were. If you’re going to be offensive, at least be funny about it. They don’t seem to have grasped that.
Making fun of sex, yes. But they’re not really referring to actually having sex or needing boyfriends.
Love her! She does what she does really well and can make just about anything funny. This show just shot up a few notches with this news. Good casting and smart producing on an already pretty good show.
She was also great in The Closer. Love Jennifer!

Right, because what 2BGs needs is an older – albeit talented – actress, with a MILF persona, to play yet another role on a show that hardly uses its current supporting characters without sex puns and zingers.
As you can tell, I’m tortured by this show. Great repartee with the leads but a heavy-handed jokes and flat storylines. The best thing Sophie can do is get rid of Chestnut by any means necessary.
I’m still wondering where they found a horse that never actually craps. That shovel remains pristine.
I actually enjoy this show. Wouldn’t say it’s “laugh out loud funny”, or that I “love” it, but if I catch it, it’s great. I think Jennifer Coolidge will be great on this show; I’ve always found her hilarious! Hopefully this minimizes the role of Max’s Upper East Side boss… that woman’s jokes fall flat!
Yeah, “Peach” or whatever her name is – comedy death character. No society woman would ever do something as crass as name her babies “Brangelina.” She’s way more of an L.A. parody than a NY one. (Kind of how like Surburgatory is clearly more of a satire of L.A. ‘burbs than NY ones.)
Saw her live once and laughed myself into an asthma fit. Every time I see her I think, “Why isn’t she working more?!” Have always thought she’s so different from all the other female comedians out there… maybe that works for and against her. Whatever the case, glad to see her getting work on this show. The gals better watch out though, she steals every scene she’s in! Will be a great learning experience having her around to teach them how it’s done.
Coolidge is very talented and hysterical in the Chris Guest films. Hopefully she help this show because the writing is awful. Lame tired jokes. I was aghast at the pilot script – where’s my waitress?” “She’s coming” (as we hear her orgasm in the back), really? a stoned 14 year old boy would think that old joke is funny. And also in the pilot – this “clever” topical joke “You’re like a maid in the Schwarzenegger household. You just got screwed.” Wow. The cast deserves better.

I would describe this show as not good but a guilty pleasure. I usually dont go for these juvenile humor type shows at all. But the 2 leads are good and make it watchable despite the L-C-D writing. And blondie is so darn adorable. Nice add to the cast btw.

I love this show. Especially now that Jennifer is there. She is so fun. This show is so funny, and yeah..it has some colorful humor, but come on. It’s funny! And I like it because I think it’s just meant to be funny. Most every category of people they make fun of.. are on the show. Asians, white girls, blacks..etc. I think it’s funny, and not really offensive.
