After 2 low-rated airings in its high-profile Thursday 8:30 PM slot, rookie comedy How To be A Gentleman was relegated to Saturdays last week. But after one outing in its new Saturday berth, the comedy has been pulled from there too. In the fast nationals, the original How To be A Gentleman drew 2.4 million viewers at 8:30 PM, dropping from its lead-in, a Two And A Half Men repeat (3.6 million).

Drama – art imitating life!
Victory!
Oh Poor Drama.
Johnny Drama is still getting fucked!
This was a decent show. CBS didn’t give it a chance.
This show looked dead on arrival anyway. Who the hell is being paid to program all of this shite???
People talk about how bad the box office is these days for features, but look at network TV. So much time and effort, not to mention money goes into making these crappy shows. Some shows that seemed like they might have had promise (Playboy Club and Pan Am) probably would have been done better if they were made for cable instead of broadcast. Those shows were victims of a high-branded-concept but terrible writing and execution. The comedies that are on TV are nothing but one humorless one-liner after another.
Where has the storytelling gone? The industry is really shooting itself in the foot with the junk that is being put out these days on both TV and in the theaters. There is a total lack of creativity. It’s no wonder that viewers are tuning out these shows left and right, and avoiding movie theaters like the plague.
Thankfully Hornsby has his FX animated show to fall back on. What a slap in the face from CBS. This show was dead before it aired. Virtually zero promotion.
this show still seem like a punchline from Entourage to me.
I think it’s time for Johnny Bananas to take that slot.
Kevin, you are a fine actor and I love your work but if you’re going to play a muscle-bound trainer you might try oh, I dunno, lifting some weights.
Wow – They could have put a rerun on ANY of the CBS comedies and get better numbers than that!
Drama don’t get no respect!
This was a good show. CBS didn’t give it enough time.
Surprised it lasted the entire 30 minutes on Saturday night.
It’s hard to not laugh. Welcome to the life of typecasting; get comfy and enjoy your stay.
I just couldn’t get used to the sound of Drama’s voice on this face paced show with a laugh track. It seemed so wrong.
I’m pretty sure it’s filmed in front of an audience. I don’t think any show uses a laugh track anymore.
It was not filmed in front of an audience. While some shows are filmed with an audience, most shows still sweeten the audience with laugh track.
The problem with the show was the two leads were boring together. A funnier show would have been the David Hornsby character working with Dave Foley at the magazine.
The show wasn’t terrible, but certainly could have been better. Although “Whitney” and “2 Broke Girls” couldn’t find a giggle in a tickle factory, yet they were both picked up for full seasons. TV’s a funny thing.
““Whitney” and “2 Broke Girls” couldn’t find a giggle in a tickle factory”
That made me giggle! Best comment, ever. LOL
I found Saturday’s episode pretty entertaining. It probably would have done better if the focus had been on the “odd couple” relationship between the two leads and less on the gentleman/man angle.
I don’t know what CBS expected from a Saturday airing but it’s Saturday. The other networks barely program the night so why should they care how it does? They may as well have burned off the remaining episodes. They should at least post them online.
What about “Johnny Bananas”? I still think that had promise.
Glad CBS put this turkey out of its misery FAST
With this show off the air, what comedies does CBS’s sister studio, CBS Studios have on the air? Just a “Rules of Engagement” that was really a Sony show to begin with? Maybe I’m forgetting something?
I’ll just state the obvious: Kevin Dillon is not a popular actor, and certainly not capable of carrying a lead. To me, he’s like the “ugly version of Matt Dillon.” I mean, seriously, how much forehead can people tolerate looking at?
If Julie Chen was in the cast, it would have lasted at least one more week on Saturday. CBS wasn’t behind this show at all.
What bullshit, seriously. This was one of the best pilots I read and watched from last development season. CBS had no faith in the finished product and relegated it to Saturday night. Injustice.
Dillon – good for 46.
Show – bad for his career.
Brother – looked like crap on modern family last season.
