Lionsgate has moved its thriller Safe up to March 2 from a Oct. 28 release. The film, which stars Jason Statham, tells the story of a former elite agent fighting to rescue a 12-year-old girl. The move provides some breathing room between Safe and Statham’s Killer Elite, which Open Road has set for a September 23 release. Boaz Yakin (Remember the Titans) directed Safe for producers IM Global, Automatik Entertainment, Lawrence Bender Prods. and Trigger Street Prods. Already slotted into that weekend are Paramount’s Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, the WB comedy Project X and Universal’s Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax.
