USA has done it again. The top-rated cable network is expected to extend its current streak of renewing every freshman series with pickups of Suits and Necessary Roughness. I hear the renewals of the two series should come within the next few weeks as both shows are wrapping production on their first seasons.
Suits has been a breakout hit for USA and was immediately embraced by the audience following its June premiere with 4.6 million viewers, 2 million of them in the adults 18-49 demographic. While not as noisy, Necessary Roughness has been as solid in the ratings after opening with 4.7 million viewers, 1.8 million of them in the 18-49 demo. With their pending renewals, Suits and Necessary Roughness would follow in the footsteps of USA’s other recent series that got pickups after their freshman season including Royal Pains, White Collar, Covert Affairs and, most recently, Fairly Legal.
