With his HBO series Entourage coming to an end, Jeremy Piven is focusing on producing through his production company Luscious Mayhem. For one of the company’s first projects, LM has teamed with Bischoff Hervey Entertainment for a new reality project called Blow. The show focuses on famous New Orleans glassblower Josh Cohen and his band of misfits as they deal with each other and their demanding clientele. LM and BHE co-funded a pilot presentation, which is now being shopped to networks.

Well, he’s already an expert in blowing smoke. Seems like a natural to me.
I for one would like to see a show like that. I am a glass blower. I would be more then happy to tivo past the junk and see the work. We do not get much press anymore. So anything is better then nothing. I am sick of Pawn stars and junk dealers.
who is watching glass blowers, cupcake makers, motorcycle makers, tow truck drivers, tattoo artists, little couples, multiple birth mothers, and all the rest of these talentless, worthless cretins? are the unemployed just watching to see what a job looks like?
So, people with regular jobs, and little people are “worthless cretins”?? What’s up, did your mama not hug you enough as a baby or did she hug you a little too much?
Someone’s taking things a little too personally…
such a charismatic and talented actor and SUCH a bad guy…everyone who lives in this town has heard a first hand story or witnessed the way by which he’s going to a very bad place when it’s all said and done.
all the fun is going to be in that bad place so what’s the problem? sounds like the perfect man to be heading up a new orleans project!
And Hollywood has finally hit the bottom of the barrel for reality ideas.
And what does your reality look like? Nothing more interesting I suppose?
And hot air…
Sounds compelling. Would love to see the companion show on house painters and paint drying. Really, really forward-thinking television.
Paint drying… wow… you have no design mind at all… because that’s all it is to you right… I’d love to see you design anything… but stick to your box and triangle thoughts.. those are typical of anything of idea right? Have you no idea what someone can do with a glob of glass? What do you drink out of.. what do you eat out of… what do you look through.. all a bit of glass… sometimes just sometimes instead of being blind people want a bit of inspiration and a design that was made their own…maybe to hold their precious flowers… maybe just to hold their fruit… perhaps in Egypt or England or Scotland or Italy or just anywhere there might be a culture behind what is glass a life that holds so much different of a life that you may be used too that just may have so much to do with your life… how much glass do you have day to day that effects you?
This is TOO easy. Glass BLOWING? Seriously awesome. HAHAHAHAHA!
Glass blowing is such a beautiful, creative and diverse art. It’s also very hard work under extremely difficult circumstances. But the beauty that’s created makes it all worth it to the artists and to those who appreciate their work. As a “reality” show, I’d like to see the show travel all over the U.S. to show many various artists and their techniques, and their beautiful, and often whimsical productions. Any cretin who doesn’t appreciate this art need not watch. I just hope it will be picked up by a network available on Charter Cable, as broadcast TV is unlikely. Good luck to Jeremy Pivin and to Luscious Mayhem.
Yeah. Might make a good one hour on Discovery and that’s about it.
Agree 100% with Terri.
PBS has already done documentaries on Seattle glass artist Dale Chihuly. In fact, there are several additional documentaries and books on Chihuly. And glassblowing is part of a larger “Maker/DIY” movement:

Cohen’s work is very gothic and haunting, but also whimsical, sort of a cross between Tim Burton and Dr. Seuss in glass. If you’re a production designer, you should really check it out:

This show is going to be great. For reals. People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones at glass blowing ideas they know not of.
Hells yeah I’m Stoked and I totally promote that man’s glass
Well, I am a full time glass blower and I work at home. So I work in my garage and when I take a break from working I turn on my TV for entertainment, or inspiration. So maybe the unemployed who watch might find something outside of an office job that might make you happy or even a little content with life. Or inspire you to go do something different. As a glassblower I know that most people I have met in my journeys are interested in the making of and the lifestyle. So please, don’t be so judgmental when you don’t know the half of it. And if you don’t like it there is always new episodes of Hoarders to watch to ease the mind.
Wait, A PRESS RELEASE for a Pilot?
Desperate.
Jeremy seems to know there are other Glass shows being pitched and in Pre-prod and he wanted to put them on notice.
The difference?
The other shows have excellent Glass Artists, NOT a Sax Player who dabbles in glass.
Oh well, how many cake shows are there?
What do you think you know about glass especially the type of glass that Josh “dabbles” in .. really you wouldn’t even be able to keep the glass off the ground would be what I would assume he is a glass artist and an amazing one.. and has some experience which takes years to accomplish maybe you pick up glass and see what you can do in just a short month .. I think that most likely you probably wouldn’t even be able to hold it up for a few hours and in those few.. a glob of crap would probably be what you could create… don’t knock it till you tried it.. hell you probably couldn’t balance honey on the end of a dropper
Actually, I can spin everything from 4 foot Rondells to 100 ounce vessels. Been doing it for almost 15 years. Now, it’s just a hobby, but I just was working at my friend’s shop yesterday.
You were saying?
THAT’s how I know Cohen’s not a true glassworker – he is a sculptor who dabbles in Glass.
This show is already behind others that feature MUCH better glassblowers – hence a PRESS RELEASE for a PILOT that hasn’t been picked up.
Desperate.
Wow! Rondells! Vessels! Way to think inside the box! Lemme guess, you spin it out, hang into down, and have an instant Chihuly rip-off floppy bowl! Awesome! Why don’t you post your website under your comment so we can see why this show should be about you instead! I’m sure the producers will change everything to accommodate you. How dare Cohen be a sax player too! How dare him make sculptures that are not bilaterally symmetrical! Glass is supposed to be hollow, dang it, and easy to judge and understand! And it best look the same from any angle it’s viewed from. Otherwise, its not glassblowing!
Wow! Rondelles! Vessels! Way to think inside the box! How dare Cohen make something that isn’t bilaterally symmetrical! Why dont you post your website under your comment so we can see your floppy-bowl Chihuly rip-offs you’ve been doing for the last 15 years! I’m sure the producers will drop Cohen and make the show all about you! Way to be a hater! You’re so right!
Yeah, How dare someone play sax and blow glass! Way too much blowing for one person! Yeah, he should limit himself to one or the other. Yeah….rrrr,,rrriiiiiggghht
Actually, I know Josh, and he’s more of a glass expert (with 2 degrees specifically in glass from REAL schools,) and he’s more of a glass expert that dabbles in Sax. Get it srtaight befor you make an idiotic comment about someone you obviously know nothing about.
somebody’s jealous
Thank you, Plant.
Just another “Entourage”-this time,of glassblowers. Pass.
My unscripted show on parking lot kiosk knife sharpeners and key makers is available, people.
Not before my show about the shoeshine guy outside of Juniors gets picked up.
1. Had no idea Piven had his own production company. Guess I’m too busy hearing about his asshattery.
2. Insert obvious “Jeremy Piven blow” joke here.
I agree that the show should travel all over the US to see different glass artists in action. Or better yet, work with an aspiring glass artist to help him/her get their ideas off the ground! Also, go to italy!!
Of course Italy but do you realize how many great artists and glass artists are also in this country???? Perhaps that’s what’s wrong with this country.. everything is an import…we can’t support our own artists.. How many times have you been to Walmart this week… China have your back???
Speaking of! I personally know very well a glass artist who lives in LA and has built equipment needed for a glass studio from scratch! He’s put many hours into it and is constantly getting burned it seems by those he needs help from the most to see his glass studio to fruition. Well now, the studio is open! Its near silverlake / glassel park.. And soon to have a grand opening. He wants it to be a community studio where people can come and watch glassblowers work (“blow” rather) and also create art and help sponsor events around glass and teach classes. This guy sold a glass sculpture to James Cameron like 6 years ago and never capitalized on it! I think jeremy should go visit this glass studio. This guy is seriously crazy for glass and has some big ideas that he needs help with!!
im a glass artist in and around the l.a. area i would love some more information about this facility!
OMG… honest to God. The guy who lives across the street from us is one of the last professional manufacture grade glass blowers in the OC. He’s classic, total character. He’s stuck in a time warp. Long crazy hair, wears super tight Jordache jeans. What a character… If the show is anything like “Cowboy Bob” (nickname) this will be a hit.
I’ve been talking about this for years :) I’ve been a lampworker/ pipe worker for 12 yrs now and have been running a pipe manufacturing company called Unbroken Glass out of Peoria IL for 7 of those 12 yrs. After seeing all the other reality shows out there I thought our craft would be a perfect fit. So I say ” about frickin time” Good luck to all and can’t wait to watch :)
Regular people can be interesting but how many hours on cable is needed for glass blowers, coupon clippers, cupcakes cookers, repro cars bad acting people, what’s in the storage bin people, rich useless families, hillbilly fishing people, etc.? A half hour special on some of these topics would be enough.
Glass blowing is nowhere near coupon clipping give it a try… can be very intriguing
This will still be WAY better than Kutcher’s DMV show.
THIS SHOW WILL PROBUALLY BE AS ADDICTIVE AS BLOWING GLASS!! MUCH PROPS CANT WAIT TO CHECK IT OUT!!
Watch pros at the craft, and tell me this isn’t more interesting then making cupcakes.
Question for ya I thinking about moving my studio to my garage do I need to get permits or a business license I will not be selling anything from my house thanks a lot Tim
deep breaths folks! pivon is trying to make a show in LA you are trying to make glass..take it easy we are doing what we love to make a living.how many pilots have you shot? how many pumpkins/ornaments/floppy bowls have you made? it’s all a process some ideas are good some suck major ultra balls but if its gonna suck let it suck. And putting an add out for something? real life folks
