   I’m a big Sandler fan but he really needs to start hiring COMEDY writers to write his screenplays. The good films to poop ratio is getting absurdly lopsided at this point. I mean, I’m not asking for “Terms of Endearment” here, just something with a few inspired jokes that doesn’t feel completely cut and pasted together. The last thing that was even close to worthwhile was the children’s picture he did with Russell Brand. Everything else Happy Madison has done in roughly the past decade has been disturbing, half-baked and unfunny IMHO.

      exactly what i was thinking. except this will still do a hundred million. not that it will be any good, but that’s just what his movies seem to do. the more challenging ones for his core audience (funny people, spanglish, punch drunk love) don’t do big business. and never will.

    And WTH is Al Pacino thinking? Is he in like “Nicholas Cage” IRS-money trouble or something? Did he lose a bet to Sandler? This isn’t like DeNiro doing “Meet the Parents” which was totally clever and brilliant, the greatest comedy ever in comparison.

    How the heck was this sold to a major motion picture studio? Is the person responsible in the unemployment line now?

      Maybe Pacino was thinking it would be nice to be in a movie people actually went to see.

      Pacino might be the legendary name, and Sandler the schlock master, but: Sandler’s last movie was “Just Go With It.” And that crap-tacular film pulled in $103 mil, US box office. You know the last time a film with Pacino in the lead made that? The Godfather, in 1972. Al’s last 4 star turns didn’t equal Just Go With It, much less a typical Sandler film. If he wants to cash in on his name, why the hell not?

    Hoo ha! How much of a paycheck did Pacino get for this? Sandler I understand sinking so low and doing another movie he makes fun of in FUNNY PEOPLE, like MERMAN, b/c it’s what the idiots that go to movies want – more lame comedy. But Pacino – why Al, why?

    I get why you did GIGLI – at least it was the director of your Oscar winning performance – sure it sucked, but at least there was potential.

    This, really – why sink so low and do a film with the director of Sandlers last 20 or so crapfests???

    Al, I’m so disappointed. First the Avi films, and now this. What happened to the craft of acting, Al, that you represented to a generation???

    At least when Brando did a comedy, THE FRESHMAN, it was actually funny.

    Is this a fake Funny Or Die trailer? If so it’s brilliant. If that is not the case it’s a new low point for a guy that doesn’t seem to have a bottom. Why don’t you grab Kevin James and remake Ishtar and make the horror that is your career complete.
