Overall usage was down 6% last night versus last Thursday, and ratings were down by at least as much across the board. At 9 PM, CBS’ Big Brother (2.3/7) was the top-rated program of the night by a mile, but it was down 18% from last Thursday’s premiere. Paced by Big Brother and helped by strong rerun numbers for The Big Bang Theory (1.6/6), CBS won the night in both adults 18-49 (1.6/5) and total viewers (6.2 million).
Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance (1.6/6) didn’t get a bump from the show’s first major Emmy nominations yesterday — for best reality-competition series and best reality host. The dancing series’ results show was down a tenth from last Thursday though it may gain it back in the finals. Fox, which also aired a Glee rerun, averaged a 1.3/4 for the night in 18-49 and 4.1 million viewers.
ABC’s Wipeout (1.8/7) was No. 2 for the night behind Big Brother and led the 8 PM hour but was down 10% from last week. At 9 PM, Mark Burnett’s new reality series Expedition: Impossible (1.3/4) tumbled the most, down 24% from last week. On the heels of its early third-season renewal on Wednesday, Rookie Blue (1.4/4) was down 7% to a summer low. ABC finished the night with an average of a 1.5/5 and 5.4 million viewers. NBC (0.8/3, 2.2 million) aired comedy reruns followed by a new Love Bites (0.7/2), which was flat with last week and tied a Parks and Recreation rerun as the lowest-rated program of the night.
