“Pretty original.” Hahaha
The more I see of this film the more it looks like a prequel to that hideous GI Joe movie from a few years ago.
Haven’t we had enough superhero movies to last a lifetime this summer? I hope this doesn’t do well, but it will because people are lemmings.
Looks awesome. I say it has a good shot of hitting 80 million opening weekend.
Small town boy serve’s country, kick’s a little ass, get’s laid. Make’s me get all misty…
Is it just me or does this thing just look silly. I think these superhero movies, all based on 60 year old concepts, have jumped the shark.
After the creative misfire of Thor and the flop of Green Lantern (and the genius, but early May release of X-Men: First Class), Cap will save the summer! Hold your shield high, True Believers!
Looks good. I hope it is good and does well.
I’m really looking forward to seeing Captain America: The First Avenger.
Thank the lord Friends with Benefits is also coming out this weekend. Enough already with these lame nerd-fests. I want a chance to get laid. Not going to happen with CA. Good shot after FWB
I’ve read some great Cap comics in my time. I hope the films is based on them and not the Bendis/Millar versions.
Anyone who remembers the “Marvel” animated cartoons from the 60’s (Captain America, Sub Mariner, Thor, Iron Man, and Ever lovin’ Hulk) has the basic “Captain America” information in the back of their mind someplace. You don’t have to have read hundreds or thousands of comic books to know the basics of the character or his abilities.
– This thing falls apart for me at Cap’s Shield. Watch the clip again and pay attention to the shield. It looks and behaves like a cheap plastic kid’s toy (which I am sure they will try to sell 10 million of to the kiddies out there.) Even if you write Steve Rodgers the correct way, and make him a physical superhero, that shield is as much a part of him as a Jedi’s light saber. It’s his reach, his extension, his “time to kick serious butt because the cartoon is almost over” weapon.
It looks bad, it looks cheap, and it looks primitive. It looks like the worst thing you can have in a movie these days, even over and above a bad script-Bad special effects. The audience will know it, too and the illusion is shattered. I don’t care what kind of beefcake you get to wear the suit and carry the shield. If the shield doesn’t work, then the guy carrying it can’t save Captain America.
-Am I the only one who thinks that what we see and hear of the writing in this clip is well, shall we say, less than impressive? I get a “Green Hornet” meets “Green Lantern” vibe from it. That’s not only not good, I begin to smell bomb here.
This movie will probably gross $200 million in the U.S. That’s a pretty good estimate.
