EXCLUSIVE: Tony nominee Elizabeth Rodriguez has joined the cast of NBC’s new drama series Prime Suspect. The series stars Maria Bello as Jane Timoney, a female detective working a tough, male-dominated precinct in New York City. Rodriguez will play another detective on the force. Prime Suspect, adapted from the hit British series by Alexandra Cunningham, is slated to air in the Thursday 10 PM slot this fall. Rodriguez, whose recent Broadway debut in The Motherf**ker With the Hat earned her a Tony nomination, is repped by Stone Manners Salners Agency and Opus Entertainment.

I read that the new NBC administration under Bob Greenblatt is tweaking Prime Suspect a bit so that the stories are more engaging. Any truth to that? Is the pilot any good.
the original gritty U.K. series is the gold standard in the U.K., usually on all-time top 10 lists of TV dramas. (Like The Shield, The Wire, Hill Street Blues, etc.)
This means it’s too “intelligent” for current American network TV factory. I guess NBC will make it less intelligent and more broad.
My advice: Just use the original UK scripts. Minimal tweaking. At least you’ll make something you can be proud of. And keep Inspector Munch away from the show. :)
Worked with her on All My Children and she is FABULOUS! So happy for her!
Are they still recasting the boyfriend character. I know the actor who played him in the pilot left.
Rodriguez was great on this show. I loved the whole cast and the whole show. I can’t believe it wasn’t been picked up by another network or cable channel. I can’t believe NBC canceled it in the first place.
