I always wondered what blue sh!t smelled like. Now I know.
It’s so unbelievably bad I stopped the trailer half way through. Wow.
Yeah… another great movie from Sony. All that terrible image placement for Blu-ray and 3D. I reckon it’s the first 3D movie that is promoting 3D in the movie itself. And doesn’t Gargamel look horrible? Thanks Sony for spoiling one of my childhood favorites. I won’t take my kid to see this crap.
Why does every kids movie have to have a gratuitous dance sequence at the end of the trailer?
It’s called the Tyler Perry Effect.
43 years in development for this? That being said, still looks better than the muppets
Sold! Great trailer promising lots of fun. Looking forward to this.
I hope this movie explores the benevolent dictatorship that is Papa Smurf’s rule.
way to monetize the smurfs!
shame to not go for the same character voices though, the ones here, esp. papa smurf and smurfette are uninspired and rather weak to say the least.
In the late summer/early Fall of 2009, Smurfs went into preproduction in Manhattan. Not long after, the script was deemed, for lack of a better word, AWFUL, and production was in need of rewrites galore.
CUT TO: FALL OF 2009. Production shuts down. However, studio does not want to lose all the money it sunk into preproduction (aka money it spent without a finished or solid script — God, when will they learn?)
CUT TO: LATE FALL/EARLY WINTER 2009: Studio attempts rewrites, but nothing works. Studio shrugs, says “Whatever” and pushes forward (as it did not want to waste any more money trying to figure out the right angle on this project, and refused to abort it or put it on hold). And now, we have… this.
CUT TO: NOW: Wow. This trailer is terrible.
Cute trailer. Where’s Vanity Smurf? He was the best. Kids will love this.
The villan looks just like the villan kiddie kidnapper from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. is there supposed to be a similarity? or is this a lack of creativity/originality?
It’s F-ing Gargamel. Show some respect.
Gargamel first appeared in 1959, almost a decade before the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang movie.
I hate to say it — this looks kinda good?
@ Jakey Misters- You have your information wrong. I’ve been working on this film (pre pro was done in LA) and when we went to NY to shoot everyone was VERY happy with the final draft. Sony requested some reshoots but much wasn’t needed. Jordan Kerner’s productions have always been full of heart and well crafted, so I would reserve my judgement for when the film comes out. Smurfs Up!
WOW. That… looks… awful.
Sadly, It will probably make Alvin and the Chipmunks money and kids will probably go apesmurf for it.
STOP ruining my childhood Hollywood!
Poor Neil Patrick Harris.
I hope that cat has a big appetite.
The Horror….oh the horror.
Even though this looks routinely terrible, Neil Patrick Harris is probably the only person on Earth who could carry this kind of film.
