CBS has pulled midseason series Chaos off the schedule after three low-rated airings in the challenging Friday 8 PM time slot. The CIA dramedy most recently drew a 1.0/3 in 18-49 and 5.7 million viewers this past Friday. That was actually up a tenth in the demo from the previous week but way below what Medium and The Defenders were pulling in the slot earlier this season. For the next two weeks, CBS will air CSI: NY repeats in the 8 PM hour, with Canadian-made backup Flashpoint stepping in May 6 with originals. CBS fought hard to land Chaos in dramatic negotiations with producer 20th Century Fox TV that lasted a couple of months last summer.
Meanwhile, the four unaired episodes of FX’s canceled freshman comedy Running Wilde will run on sibling cable channel FX beginning on April 28 at 10 PM.

Well, that’s what happens when Ratner lets Martha Haight run his tv business. Biggest wasted opportunity for a director that could have a much more successful tv division than McG!
Ratner’s a egomaniac and an asshole. Asking anyone who worked on the show.
I’m a 59 year old FEMALE and I loved CHAOS!!! I can’t BELIEVE it’s
being pulled………….MISTAKE. Give it more time to catch on!!
I was so disappointed when you pulled Chaos. We thought it was delightfully different and sure as heck beat all those stupid reality shows all to heck.
I sure wish you would give it another chance
Agreed. I look (or used to) forward to this series every week…and I’m in high school. I was really PO’d when it wasn’t on this week. There weren’t any good shows on Saturday night until CHAOS…yes, I said Saturday. That’s when it was on for me, not Friday…CHAOS ROCKED!!! *sad face*
Loved the pilot script. It was so fun and fresh. But unfortunately, the episodes didn’t live up. This could have been a great show. Too bad things didn’t come together. Hope Spezialy tries again.
What a disappointment. The Pilot was fantastic! Loads of subversive humor and tons of snark. Then the Suits got a hold of it. “You can’t be critical of the government.” Cause everyone knows they are protecting us and spending our money wisely. (um…NOT!) The last two episodes were just a run of the mill action show. Not what I signed up for. This reminds me of another fantastic pilot back in the day called ‘Meds’ that was ruined by the suits and became just another hospital show called ‘MD’s’. Oh Well…
“The last two episodes were just a run of the mill action show. Not what I signed up for.”
Amen.
nobody cared about the pilot, it’s not a cbs show, certainly not a friday show. chaos was dead on arrival, hence the quality. (i really don’t understand the questioning of the quality, beacuse it has nothing to do with the ratings.)
YES.
CBS should have never cut Medium short during its last season.
I’d like to see the final season of Medium rerun this summer.
Give the fans of that show one last farewell.
Rick Overton was the best on the show, I am sorry that this was stuck on a Friday night. You know there are alot of people including myself who like to stay home on Fridays and watch some good quality TV I guess they don’t care about us.
So sorry to hear this sad news. I really wanted to see all the shows. Chaos is great fun, has a great cast (especially fantastic to see Freddy Rodriguez back at work, doing what he does so well), loads of potential, but, alas, a terrible time-slot.
I loved Chaos, thought it was the best spy show ever. I’m boycotting CBS now. I’ll never watch a new show of theirs ever again. Was this also the network that never allowed ‘Life’ to finish / hey did Charlie ever find out who it was?
The pilot episode of CHAOS was unwatchably bad.
CBS should have done Criminal Minds: NCIS Undercover or some other spin-off ilk instead………
CHAOS couldn’t decide if it was a comedy, dramedy, drama, or thriller.
The dialogue just laid there like…..well, you know….
Besides, you can’t run a Friday show on CBS – the oldies go to bed early on Friday nights.
I couldn’t disagree more… There are more than enough spin-off shows out there now; and, entirely too many reality shows. Also, this show proved to be a nice change-of-pace from the usual TV fare that’s on because, despite your obvious opinion to the contrary; the mix of drama, comedy, and thriller quality made a good mix. My family certain wishes the network would bring the show back.
sorry that this show was too intellectual for you, maybe you should try the cartoon network.
On the plus side, Flashpoint’s a great show.
Yeah! I love FLASHPOINT and can’t wait for it to return.
Finally, CBS brings Flashpoint back! I’ve been waiting forever to see this come back. I wish they would give this great show a regular, full summer time slot and some decent promotion.
Yes, I like Flashpoint, too; however, I don’t know why we can’t have Chaos and Flashpoint? They’re BOTH terrific shows.
CAN the American show and put on the dull Canadian one… nice CBS.
And your point is what? Canadian television is filled with American series, so why not the reverse. Besides, loads of American series are filmed in Canada already.
If you want American series on television then watch them. That said, Chaos was just bad. It doesn’t deserve to go on.
Canadian shows are unwatchable… see Flashpoint.
But I loves me some hockey! Go Wings!
Actually, the last two episodes were run out of order, and that’s why they didn’t seem as tight as the pilot. This show belonged on a Tuesday or Thursday night, and was a real opportunity for creative entertainment. I hope CBS will finish the series out this summer as a filler; the actors’ fans (who are legion) want the DVD of the full series. (I hope the same for you Medium fans, although I believe Medium did get its full run.) So, unusual to finally see a series that could work in different directions with a cast that clearly clicked and worked well together!
That’s what I love about CBS–show a show three times than pull it because of the ratings. How the hell can the ratings improve, if the show is gone? It was a fun show to watch, past tense. As far as “Flashpoint” keep it, dull and boring.
Bring back The Defenders!
It’s about time CBS comes to their senses bringing back FLASHPOINT is the best and smartest thing they have done and it took them long enough. Now CBS needs to give FLASHPOINT the right publicity like they give their other shows which they did not do before. FLASHPOINT is a very creative well written show and the cast is suburb. CBS needs to really put it out there like they do with NCIS, The Mentalist, The Good Wife etc. You see them almost every other commercial but with FLASHPOINT you didn’t hear anything. Congrats to CBS as long as they keep their word.
Oh Yes lets put on another CSI! What will it be this time CSI Branson? Hey I believe in a good concept, but I think CBS has become famous for beating this concept to death. Finally they come up with a decent new show CHAOS with a cast that had great chemistry and not to mention a abundance of talent and good looks. And they can’t give it a decent chance. Everyone knows time slot is key in the success of a new show, and Friday night at 7:pm is the kiss of death for any show.
Would love to see CBS give this show a chance and air the remaining shows of the season that have already been shot so it can at least be released as a DVD, or at least allow it to be shopped out to a different network that would give it the publicity and time slot that it deserved.
A CHAOS FAN TO THE END
How anyone on here could bash Martha is beyond me. She’s class all the way and has excellent taste. CBS screwed this up from the get go.
Agreed. She’s a bright, good person who works her heart out. Trashing her as the reason for Chaos’ failure is absurd.
Too bad. Kurtwood Smith is always fun to watch when he’s in charge.
“I don’t know whether to be impressed or terrified.”
YEAH,FLASHPOINT! Sad to see CHAOS gone though. Loved the characters but the plot was a little thin. Better luck next time!
YAY, FLASHPOINT!
will FX show the remaining episodes from LoneStar
BRING BACK VOLTRON!!
CHAOS is a great show with laughs and family friendly edge. The Defenders is a great show also. I am very, very disappointed that you have cancelled these two FUNNY adaptations of more serious scriptings. Why would we consider that these shows did not deserve a chance for resuscitation? Remember JAG.
Cbs is a bunch or morons. They give it a crappy Friday slot and pull after a slow start? Great minds over there. Show was much better than many shows out there. What a shame.
Oh…and u Flashpoint fans are just as bad. Plot lone sucks and leaves nothing other than your garden variety BS. CHAOS was a different fresh show in a bad tome slot…end of story. Can’t wait until flashoint gets the ax. Do the networks have any balls to hang there with a show anymore? Grow a back bone.
