EXCLUSIVE: Writer-producer Jack Orman has inked a new two-year, seven-figure overall deal with Sony Pictures TV. ER alum Orman wrote and is executive producing Sony TV’s buzzed-about ABC pilot Pan Am. Described as a sexy soap set against the Jet Age, the pilot, directed/exec produced by Thomas Schlamme, revolves around pilots and flight attendants working at the iconic Pan Am airlines in the 1960s.
Under his previous two-year deal with Sony, Orman landed pilot orders both years: for Matadors at ABC last year and Pan Am, also at ABC, this year. Orman’s first TV writing gig was as a freelance writer for an episode of JAG, which led to a staff-writer position on the military drama. Orman then joined NBC’s medical drama ER where he spent six seasons, rising to executive producer/showrunner. Additionally, CAA-repped Orman co-created and executive produced the CBS drama series Dr. Vegas.
