With the hirings of top journalism talents Film Editor/New York Editor Mike Fleming, TV Editor Nellie Andreeva, Awards Columnist Pete Hammond, London Editor Tim Adler in 2010, plus Managing Editor Patrick Hipes and now Executive Editor David Lieberman in 2011, Deadline.com will continue to dominate the news and commentary arena in both film and television and soon Big Media corporate finance and technological convergence so it can remain a “must-read” for influencers and leaders in the global entertainment and media industry. Lieberman’s status and reputation fit perfectly with the Deadline.com tradition of shattering the mold of traditional reporting and creating a new paradigm for delivering news and opinion with New Media immediacy.
“David Lieberman’s hiring is another definitive message about our strategy and commitment to adding the most seasoned and skilled reporters to our portfolio of brands,” said Jay Penske, Chairman and CEO of PMC. “We couldn’t be happier with the tremendous growth of the Deadline.com business to date, and have immense confidence that David will accelerate Deadline’s visibility and influence in the New York media and entertainment community.”
Said Finke, “I’ve long admired David Lieberman’s journalism at USA Today not just because he’s so knowledgeable and well-sourced and accurate but also because he can explain very complex issues in an engaging and readable way. Ever since I first invited him to breakfast 15 years ago in NYC and we quickly became bicoastal friends, I’ve had this premonition that we’d work together at some point. And that time is now. I feel incredibly lucky that a media and entertainment business expert of Lieberman’s caliber is joining the Deadline team.”
Said Lieberman, “Deadline.com has shown how independent journalists can cover the media business vigorously and honestly and still be successful. I’m delighted to join this leading and dynamic organization.”
