EXCLUSIVE: Eva Green has landed the female lead in Dark Shadows, the Tim Burton-directed adaptation of the 60s supernatural TV soap opera for Warner Bros. Green, who made a most memorable impression when she broke James Bond’s heart in Casino Royale as Vesper Lynd, is negotiating to play the role of Angelique. In the series, she was a powerful witch who was alternately tormented and bewitched by her love-hate relationship with Barnabas Collins. Depp will play Collins. Lara Parker played the role in the original Gothic horror soap. The French-born actress most recently starred oppposite Ewan McGregor in the romantic thriller Perfect Sense, the Sundance title just acquired by IFC. Green just signed with UTA and she is also repped by UK-based Tavistock Wood.
Yesterday, Deadline revealed that Jackie Earle Haley and Bella Heathcoate are also negotiating lead roles in the film.

First saw her in Bertolucci’s The Dreamers and have been hooked ever since. She’s got the chops to back up those good looks and hopefully DS will be more like Sleepy Hollow than Alice 3D and Green can explore some darker, more gothic areas of her craft.

This is an EXCELLENT casting choice! I´ve been hoping that Tim Burton would consider Eva in one of his movies someday and casting her as Angelique in his adoption of “Dark Shadows” is truly amazing and a very smart choice! Finally someone in Hollywood sees Eva´s mesmorizing beauty and talent! Eva is born to play this role and with the right script, character development and a dark but yet alluring setting and theme, this movie will be one of the most amazing fantasy films in a long time! I have faith in Tim Burton and he will, without a doubt, create another masterpiece with “Dark Shadows”!
I truly hope that with this movie, Eva will finally hit it big!
I hope that they give Jonathan Frid, the original Barnabas Collins, a cameo.

Eva is extremely beautiful and really looks like a younger version of Helena Bonham Carter. I guess she can’t look as young as Johnny Depp can. The guy looks like a teenager and he has to be over 40, by now!

Thrilling! I’ve been hoping against hope to see them together on screen. I really saw her as his love interest in Shantaram until that got shelved–but this will do just fine.

Well……….she’s alright I guess, but I bet she wont’s hold a candle to Lara Parker, that was a WITCH!!!!!(scared the daylights out of me anyway)
I was mesmerized by Lara Parker when I was a child.She came in just as color TV did and she was just stunning!I can’t wait til this hits the screens.
She has BIG shoes to fill! Lara Parker really made this role memorable and multi-dimensional showing the good side and evil side of this incredible character. I hope the script and direction allows Eva to do this as well. I hope she does well with it, but Lara Parker’s portrayal and developement of Angelique will be a tough bill to fill.
