Deadline's Backstage-At-Oscars Coverage

Oh, boo-hoo. There is none. Because the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences pulled Deadline Film/NY Editor Mike Fleming’s backstage press credential to cover the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. The Academy’s PR specifically cited that the reason was Deadline’s coverage. Since Friday, Deadline had been reporting “spoilers” about Sunday’s show. (Exclusive Spoilers From Detailed Schedule) And you know what? We were dead-on accurate. Which, when you think about it, is all that counts.

  1. I figured the reasoning would be all the multiple article posts on Facebook annoying the Academy as well, LOL

  2. Billy Crystal just blamed Nikki for letting the cat out of the bag on his appearance on E’s after party coverage. Guess we know who was really behind the ban.

  3. Just because you have the info doesn’t mean you have to ruin it for the rest of us — have some respect for us viewers. It’s as if you told us a play by play of the super bowl or of a movie.

  4. Billy Crystal wasn’t even that good anyways. The big secret fell flat.

These were one of the worst awards shows i’ve seen in years. Bad hosts, bad jokes, bad singing, etc

Mike Fleming should thank the academy as he didn’t have to waste three hours to report on it.

  5. I don’t think Deadline missed much. Bob Hope was the best part of the show. His timing was perfect, and he knew how to be funny without mocking any individuals other than himself.
