Amber Heard (Zombieland) is in talks for a lead role on the NBC drama pilot Playboy. The project, from 20th TV/Imagine TV, is set at the Playboy Club in Chicago in 1963. Heard would play a new hire at the club, originally an orphan from Fort Wayne, an inquisitive young woman with an untethered sexuality and a dark past. Alan Taylor, who directed the pilot for AMC’s Mad Men, is directing Playboy from a script by Chad Hodge.

Hodge is a hack.
You should back up your slander. Otherwise you come off as a hack Troll.
Amber Heard is incredibly gorgeous. American perfection doesn’t get much purer than her.
American perfection I agree, but with a little bit of help by American surgery. (boobs)
I heard that they’ve requested that they only wanted people who haven’t had plastic surgery.
Some have said that Chad is a good writer.
Yesssssssssssss
“Amber Heard (Zombieland)”? Heard has only a cameo in Zombieland. She had a much more important part in “Pineapple Express”.
And who said this wasn’t a mad men rip-off?
I hear this is one of the best scripts this pilot season. Amber rocks wow.
This was by far one of my favorite pilot scripts of the year. If executed well it will be must see TV.
What do you think, how long until PTA or FCC will want to cancel this show?
I really hope that Amber is truly ‘in talks’ for this role and if so, lands it. Can’t wait to see her embarking on even more new projects!
Despite the great casting (Amber is so hot…), this will be an epic fail because making a Network comedy about PLAYBOY is just mentally demented. Um…nudity…hello?
Well obviously your argument is well thought out since you think this is a comedy.
the bunnies are not nude, tho…
actionman, Hefner himself hosted the variety shows Playboy and Playboy After Dark for TV in the ’60s. No nudity. Shut up.
Having only read this pilot so far I can only hope it isn’t the best of the season. It’s slickly written but completely lacks any depth, surprises or understanding of women. Which means it will probably be a huge hit.
Hey Nella, enough with every little thing having to cater to women. Mostly everything on TV now is some drama-driven, over-the-top reality show like Real Housewives, or a show that teaches girls how to be spoiled, conniving brats, like Pretty Little Liars or Gossip Girl, or teaches old biddies how to act like “cougars” like Sex and the City of Desperate Housewives (Cougar Town isn’t actually about cougars so it gets a pass, haha). When they make the Glamour or Mademoiselle TV series, we’ll call you.
Good choice, she’d be perfect.
she is lovely…and i agree, the pilot is a fun read.
Beautifully written pilot! Smart, funny and sophisticated. With the right casting this will be a great show!
Looks like Bob Greenblatt and Paul Lee are championing much riskier dramas. I mean whoever thought
Poe would be picked up for a pilot on network tv? Perhaps NBC should do Sherlock as a tv series with Benedict Cumberbatch. It’s the kind of procedural that would be interesting.
Heard has been doing an a$$load of movies lately.Seems like she’s in one every other month. She was in 3 last year and has 2 coming up.Seems odd that she would take a role on a TV show, with her film career just starting to gain steam.
What career? Drive Angry 3D with Nick Cage? Flop. The Rum Diary looks decent tho.
read the pilot, it definitely is not the best of the season. in fact, it lacks depth, heart, and is so on the nose it’s sickening. chad hodge needs to do some more living before he gives it another shot – his writing is severely paper thin.
She did start in t.v. – ‘Hidden Palms’ – though obviously she vastly changed (weight wise) from the pilot to the series pickup.
A positively luscious offering from the otherwise rancid peacock network? Fantastic!
UmmmNo, it’s probably going to be almost as good as the Mad Men pilot was. It has the same director.
