'Modern Family' Duo To Host WGA Awards

Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet, co-stars of the ABC comedy Modern Family, will co-host the 2011 Writers Guild Awards West Coast ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 5, at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel-Grand Ballroom. Modern Family is tied with Breaking Bad and 30 Rock for most WGA nominations, 3. The ABC comedy also landed 3 nominations last year, winning 2 WGA Awards, for new series and episodic comedy, the latter shared with 30 Rock.

  1. Im a WGA member. Can someone please explain to me with TV what exactly are we voting for? The first half of the new season? If Modern Family won last year (with 30 Rock) then we’re not voting on the last season, right? So to accommodate the film awards season we’re voting for the first half of the network season?

  2. We’re on a calendar year system. We’re voting for the episodes broadcast between January 2010 and December 2010, regardless of how many episodes were exhibited during that period.

  3. You’re voting for episodes that aired in the calendar year of 2010. It can — and often does — span multiple seasons.

  4. Back to the topic at hand – I think these are a pair of great choices for hosts! If they are anywhere near as funny on stage as they are on TV, it’s gonna be a fantastic show!

  5. I agree with SB. Now if the WGA East would just figure out how to produce their awards show so that it was halfway decent we would all be thankful.
