EXCLUSIVE: Fox is prepping a primetime sketch comedy series for midseason from Oscar winner and In Living Color alum Jamie Foxx. The network has handed out a 12-episode order to the half-hour comedy, tentatively titled The Jamie Foxx Project. Foxx, Fox TV Studios and producers Eric and Kim Tannenbaum were behind a sketch comedy pilot for Fox this past development cycle. I hear the new project will be different and the original pilot won’t be used. Rising sketch comedian/actor Affion Crockett (The Boondocks), who co-starred in the pilot, will star on the series and produce. One of the pilot’s co-writers, Carl Jones also will stay on as writer/co-executive producer.
In the vein of Fox’s 1990s sketch/variety series In Living Color, which gave Foxx his break, The Jamie Foxx Project will take on pop culture, spoofing movie trailers, commercials, TV shows, music videos and celebrities, with a diverse cast of young new comedians. FtvS, Foxx/King Entertainment and The Tannenbaum Co. are producing the series, with Foxx, Marcus King and Jaime Rucker King, Foxx’s managers and producing partners at Foxx/King Entertainment, Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum executive producing.

If talent from the boondocks is helping Jamie; this might be alright.
Affion doesn’t write for The Boondocks, he just does voices. Don’t get your hopes up! Thus far, Affion’s proven himself to be a more rap-oriented/youthful Aries Spears. We’ll see what comes of it all.
Carl Jones is a writer and producer of “The Boondocks”. He’s also writing and producing a cartoon based on the Michael Jai White movie “Black Dynamite”.
Yeah Boondocks is hysterical, this past season 3 was the best so far. I figured it’d only be a matter of time before the writers started migrating. Same thing happened with The Chris Rock show for HBO. Louis CK, Wanda Sykes, Ali LeRoi, all came from there.
Hopefully Jaime can try to fill a piece of the asteroid sized hole in sketch comedy left by Dave Chapplle. Doubt it..but hoping
I doubt it too. His ego compass has pointed him back rather than forward (music career?) and this seems like another attempt to perhaps reclaim something he was not allowed to achieve when he did not have the power to push it thru. Granted, I might just do the same if I had the chance but I worked around him on Jarhead and he does not make it easy to like him. Dude is thorny! He’s aged and not nearly as funny. For it to work he needs to let go, let the other guys run the show.
Amen! Retire the drag character Wanda and move into the 2010’s
This project has been two years in the making. Still won’t hit the airs until Jan 2011.
what ever happend to late night… Fox??? They Really need to find something fast!!!!!
Hopefully, they’ll keep it out of the “late night” network hands and Jamie will really get behind it…
Could be a great opportunity for the network to find and nurture some fresh comedians…………..and writers………..and producers…….
Lightning isn’t going to strike twice. It almost did with Mad TV, but once all of the original cast left for that one, everything went downhill. In Living Color was a once in a lifetime thing.
The name of the show is not The Jmaie Foxx Project, its titled The After Party. Also some of the folks who were originally on the show were dropped. Looking forward to seeing if this is a carbon copy of In Living Color.
finaly was wondering how long it would take fox to find a way to fill its scetch comedy gap left by mad tv. and one of the vetrans of living color which helped make fox what it is. cool should be a riot to watch it.
Jaimie Foxx also did a pilot for FX in 2004.
Congratulations Affion! You worked hard brother. Much success to you and Jaime Foxx. You both deserve it.
I thought he was going to do a drama or something important. Again with the comedy. Can’t black folks do something other than comedy? He’s got an oscar for dramatic acting for christ’s sake.
Affion Crockett was an actor for The Boondocks,
Carl Jones is the Co-Executive Producer/Writer/Actor for The Boondocks.
Living Color was hysterical as was the Chappelle show. Jamie is talented. Nothing could be as bad as that buffoonery on TBS passing for black comedy and talent. I hope Jamie raise the bar.
Finally! I have been waiting for a reunion or something like the original cast from In Living Color! I really am looking forward to this! Can’t wait. I absolutely adore Jamie Foxx!!!!! Wanda u r so missed!
i can’t wait this to come out either, and Boondocks is a great show.
If you do not try… you have already failed! It is sickening to hear haters (particularly illiterate hate) that does not articulate anything worth listening to.
Bottomline, Jamie has had tremendous success and Affion has real talent that warrants opportunity. I am very happy to see a seasoned vet help a talented up and comer….it is warming to the heart especially as it relates to the ethnic community.
I think the show will be a success simply because THERS NOTHING ON TV. When I was growing up we bought WHT and HBO so we wouldn’t have to watch commercials. Now the commercials are better than the actual shows. Jamie Foxx will do well, don’t knock it before you try it. Jamie did one bad movie and that was “Miami Vice” comedy is his thing. And I think its gonna pop. Good luck brothers ill B watching!
