Ann Sarnoff has been named Chief Operating Officer at BBC Worldwide America, reporting to U.S. company president, Herb Scannell. She is the second member of Scannell’s senior executive team following the recent appointment of Perry Simon as general manager, channels. Sarnoff, who joins the BBC from Dow Jones, previously worked closely with Scannell at Viacom where she spent 10 years and served as Nickelodeon’s EVP consumer products & business development. Subsequently, she became COO for VH1 and CMT.

In other cable executive appointments, the Travel Channel has promoted Elizabeth Browde to VP of programming and development.
