ABC has renewed the Mark Burnett/Sony TV unscripted series Shark Tank for a second season with an 8-episode order. The five Sharks from Season 1, real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran, “infomercial” industry pioneer Kevin Harrington, technology entrepreneur Robert Herjavec, fashion designer/businessman Daymond John and financial expert Kevin O’Leary, are all returning and will be joined on the panel for 3 weeks by stand-up comedian Jeff Foxworthy who is described as a self-made successful businessman with a slew of albums, books, comedy tours and TV gigs as well as his own lines of greeting cards, calendars, beef jerky, barbeque sauces and casino slot games.

Based on the Japanese format Dragon’s Den, Shark Tank gives budding entrepreneurs a chance to become successful –- and possibly wealthy –- business people. The contestants must first try to convince five tough, multi-millionaire tycoons – aka the Sharks – to part with their own cash and give them the funding they need to jumpstart their business ideas. Production on Season 2 will star in the fall for a 2011 premiere. While not a breakout hit for ABC, Shark Tank showed some growth and garnered solid reviews for its first season.
