BREAKING NEWS! KEEP REFRESHING! 3:30 PM UPDATE!
Here’s the latest news on this fast-moving story. A deal was in place if NBC picked up the Law & Order flagship for a 21st season consisting of 16 episodes. But insiders say Dick Wolf is now accusing the network of going back (some use the word “reneging”) on that arrangement made in March: “He’s so fucking angry, you have no idea.”
As recently as the start of this week, even NBCU chief Jeff Zucker was privately telling people that L&O would get one more season. That’s certainly what Wolf and his longtime reps (UTA and Ziffren Brittenham legal eagle Cliff Gilbert) were led to believe from NBC suits Marc Graboff and Jeff Gaspin. That is, until last night.
Wolf simply wanted NBC to live up to the deal that both sides had agreed to back in March. According to that arrangement already in place, NBC/Universal Media Studios was supposed to go to TNT and negotiate a new deal (the old one was up) whereby the cable channel would finance some original episodes of Law & Order in order to continue getting runs of the show. “And, for whatever reason, NBC was unwilling to engage in a serious way with TNT. They didn’t do it. At the last minute, they said, ‘We’ll pick the show up and this is how we’re going to do it’. Which was ludicrous.” That’s when NBC threw its agreement with Wolf out the window and demanded Wolf kick in to help “finance the pickup of Law & Order out of all the money he’s made. And his reps said, ‘Never going to happen’,” according to an insider. Another source explained the situation: “Graboff broke off the negotiations last night when they fell apart based on Team Dick’s unwillingness to make certain deal concessions deemed unreasonable.”
But that’s not all. According to NBC insiders, immediately, Team Dick contacted Gaspin. And that email exchange revealed that Gaspin didn’t realize the show had been cancelled. Network sources say there was a lack of communication between Graboff and Gaspin, who didn’t know the negotiations had broken off. But then Gaspin confirmed it. This morning and afternoon, the producers began calling reps for the show’s stars and telling them about the cancellation.
Now Wolf wants to try to make a deal to take the Law & Order flagship to TNT, the same place that John Wells and Warner Bros took Southland after it, too, was cancelled by NBC. In that case, NBC tried to hold up the switch. And that could happen this time as well, or even something much more complicated since Law & Order is a UMS show.
NBC so far has not issued any public statement confirming the cancellation. It is possible, just possible, that this could be a game of chicken — and NBC come back to Wolf’s reps honoring the deal made in March. Don’t be surprised if talks start up again.
Wolf, after all still has L&O: SVU, L&O: Criminal Intent, and now the newest spinoff, L&O: Los Angeles on NBC. I hear the next test of wills may come immediately because Wolf wants LOLA (the new show’s nickname) to be given the Wednesday 10 PM time slot right after L&O: SVU. There may be more to report today, so stay tuned.
EXCLUSIVE 2 PM: This one is a shocker. Veteran crime drama Law & Order will not get its shot at history after all. I hear that after long deliberations, NBC has decided to cancel the long-running procedural, which will end its run at 20 seasons, tied with Gunsmoke. This is very surprising as NBC brass had indicated lately that they would bring L&O for a record-breaking 21st season. But with strong development, especially on the drama side, and soft ratings for L&O, NBC apparently opted not to keep the aging series, which spawned several successful spinoffs. The latest, Law & Order: Los Angeles, will launch next season. L&O‘s renewal by NBC was also contingent on securing a sizable commitment from the series’ cable home TNT whose off-network deal for the show was up at the end of this season.

it’s okay because there are seven other law & orders
There is nothing like the original, particularly with Sam Waterston still playing a key role. It would be nice to see his role as D.A. written into one of the other franchises.
There is no one who could ever replace sam waterson.
Amen. Jack McCoy was such an interesting mix of the idealistic and the cynic, rogue and pragmatic. Cutter was a pleasant enough diversion but no one could ever replace McCoy just like no one could ever replace Goren on L&O CI. the reason the ratings went to the dogs is that the network kept promising new episodes and kept running reruns.
Will never watch LOLA until L&O gets its 21st year.
I wouldn’t watch it if they replaced Sam he’s the show
I agree with the viewer that stated no one can replace Sam Waterson. Hopefully, new Law and Order episodes will be shown on TNT. I still enjoy the original L&O.
Sam Waterston is the only reason that (Equalizing to S. Epatha Merkson) that L&O stood to own any true credibility for a truly powerful program. These two performers are incredibly gifted in their craft and reliably strong actors of their time in television history. Both are dedicated to their role and always added their individual flavor of authenticity. and of course I have not forgotten the third top gun , the late Jerry Orbach. I truly believe that these top three actors have made L&O the epitome of what it means to be a professional in the art and an inspiration to the other co-stars to make L&O what it is today.
It stands to reason why the show has been on for so long. They were the ice breakers of the early 1990s against the odds in the improvement of risky and serious crime drama. Wolf owes his success to these very fine artists. Without these three, L&O may have never developed into the franchises that have come from this original series.
There will never be another quite like it for a long time. At least until that phantom Nielsen group returns to a semblance of reason to stop supporting this reality vomitus erupting as neverending e.coli.
I mean “The Biggest Loser” and “Win it in a Minute”? Is this a campaign to keep America stupid? Why are we being insulted in this way? PUHLEESSSSEE!!!
AMEN and DITTO to all of the above re. L&O. I also strongly
believe that the show’s prolonged durability, expertly presenting stimluating ethical debates of our times in an entertaining, engaging fashion is also due in very large part to the WRITERS. I once read, (some years ago, and I’m sorry I can’t recall the source) that the majority of the writers that have stayed with this top-notch show the longest are all over the ages of 50. Now, there certainly is NO age requirement for excellence in any field of endeavor; however, what I call “life experience”, actually living through the joys, complexities, failures and triumphs and adversities that human beings experience and actually thoughtfully wrestling with the very grey, difficult public, political and personal dilemmas of our lives is what makes us just plain more interesting. I think the “L&O” stories, presented in all of their complexities, within the context of the laws of our nation, by superb actors & actresses are what kept me coming back to the show week after week after week from the beginning. Sorry for all of the run-on sentences, folks.
And (yeah, bad grammar) I still miss the very fine Jerry Orbach.
Broadway, television & film are just a tad poorer for his absence. And what happened with Vincent D’Onofrio and thereby,
Kathryn Erbe? As strong as her acting was alongside Mr. D’Onofrio,
he was the cornerstone of “L&O:CI”.
Somebody, please pick up this show as it is and do right by it!!
Except for perpetualy struggling PBS/NPR, sorta, kinda free network programming is turning into a cultural desert: Buzz Aldrin – Apollo 11 Lunar “Golf Cart” pilot, and a true-red-white-and-blue hero (and you don’t have to be a Republican to use those words) on “Dancing with the (so-called)sic Stars”????? God help us.
Thanks and good luck to us all. Long live “L&O”!
I can’t believe I found SOMEONE who is sick to death of the “reality” puke! And you stated it so well. When we lost Jerry O, we lost a great character!
I totally agree , love Jack McCoy. I hope they bring it back .
I also feel Sam Waterson is irreplaceable. I would love for them to write him into one of the other LO shows. I have already stopped watching Law & Order Criminal Intent because of the changes on that show.
Law and Order was the best. And most likely LAO LA will be cancelled midway through the season because NBC are just plain stupid and never make smart decisions.
Another smart move from NBC braintrust! L&O is almost the only regular series they EVER have in the top 25 nielsen ratings. With the exception of Dateline and Monday Night Football they never place a lot of weeks above 30 with five shows or more. They should be paying Mr. Wolf whatever he wanted!!
Don’t worry, I’m planning to fill L&O’s time slot with a special hour of Jay Leno.
As we all know, ladies and gentlemen, “NBC” stands for… NEVER BELIEVE your CONTRACT!
Thanks Jeff Sucker :) It’s amazing the devastation The Jay Leno had on other shows, and I wish more people acknowledged it. Dick Wolf should send Leno a dozen black roses, or a horse’s head…
Bad NBC programming decisions ran L&O into the ditch! L&O was NEVER an 8pm show for any night. These were the same boneheads who moved Leno to 10pm! Put L&O on Fridays at 10pm, it’ll kill the competition and make more than enough money to pay for its production.
Declan, was your comment typed in 1994? L&O has horrible ratings this season, even by NBC standards. While you’re correct that NBC doesn’t often get any shows in the top 25, you’d have to go to about the top 75 to find L&O for the past couple of seasons. Dateline also never scores very high in the ratings, and Monday Night Football is on ESPN.
First off, NBC does not air Sunday Night Football. Secondly, you must be thinking of Law & Order SVU that is in the top 20 or 30 shows. The regular Law & Order doesn’t do that great of ratings. Get a clue of what you are talking about before you speak.
NBC does indeed air Sunday Night Football.
Apparently, you should take your own advice about checking before you speak. That is what as known as “irony”.
We do not believe any of this was right…and from the beginning, it did seem off. When the cast is talking about the next season, only to have it yanked only days later…not right.
I am asking EVERY L&O fan to come join our email campaign on FB…
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Keep-Law-and-Order-on-the-air/127638127246424?filter=1
To everyone who is angered by the cancellation of Law and Order, show your support for Law and Order by telling Dick Wolf to take every Law and Order series out of NBC, and boycott the remaining NBC shows.
This is the DUMBEST idea EVER! Why would I give up on the shows I like just for one show? It has had it’s run, it’s done now.
He clearly said “To everyone who is angered by the cancellation of Law and Order”.
You are clearly not “one who is angered by the cancellation of Law and Order.”
That will show them Chris! Those boycots always work out great for you guys. They really go a long way!
(sarcasm)
Laugh it up, but both Firefly and Farscape fans (which I am both) got a movie and a miniseries (respectively) after bitching non-stop about their cancellations. :-) And L&O has a much wider viewerbase than either of those cult shows.
I weep for the premature cancellation of Firefly… such a great show. :(
Hey dont forget all those star trek fans in the late 60’s
I have already emailed TNT asking them to take over the original Law and Order show. I hope lots of people email them with that request. I don’t know why SVU would rate so high, I am honestly bored with that show and very tired of Meloni’s character’s yelling, punching, and throwing his little fits of anger, get over it Stabler, very boring. My favorite L & O was CI, but since NBC screwed Vincent D’Onofrio I do not watch that one any more. I hope that TNT chooses pick up the original Law and Order. NBC in my opinion, is the worst channel on tv. They do lots of underhanded and shady things.
No way! I am addicted to L&A for the last 10 yrs of viewing pleasure. Must be renewed!!!
Law & Arder?
No, “Lore & Arder”
They must be from New England, that’s how a lot of the natives there say it!!
I agree–NBC should reconsider. It’s always been a great show and why would you not want to be part of history with a 21st season????
I agree a 21st season would be fantastic. Law and Order is one of my favorite shows. The cancellation is a mistake.I wish NBC would move Law and Order Criminal Intent back to NBC with the original characters. The Law and Order shows are much better than all the reality or show opera shows. If they cancel Law and Order, I will only have two T.V. shows left on NBC that I watch regularly.
Renew the darn thing NBC!! The show has done amazing things for your network all these years. It deserves the record!!!
I agree…please renew for at least one more season
I agree. I have watched every episode of L&O since the beginning. How can NBC consider dropping the show and keeping several others I won’t name. Put it back on Wednesday night for at lease another year. The writing is great and so are the the two new detectives!
I just wanted to see it break the record. I mean, isn’t that worth it to NBC at all? Free publicity, still classy show, still well-done, etc. One more year. But enough of this Wolf character. No one feels badly for you Sir rolling around in your gazillions of dollars, but I suppose you have a billion hacks to pay percentages to. No one is denying a great producer but each year it seems we hear of Wolf pulling some kind of tantrum or being “angry,” it’s so boring – enough. If NBC went back on the deal, nothing new, but still lame. Again, perhaps dumb, but wanted to see the record broken. We won’t be seeing that record again on a scripted series I don’t think in anyone demo-aged person’s lifetime – atleast not on broadcast television or even television for that matter the way things are going.
AMEN!
How infuriating! surely they will come to their senses! totally weird and silly stuff… It just goes to show how cut off bosses really get..even just for the fun of it, they should let it run for the record…it is infinitely superior to the current record holder..maybe they want the old stuff to have some cachet it wouldnt otherwise have..maybe its about residuals…but it is much more likely to just be about dopey bossy idiocy
This is insane! Renew one of the best show on television
I agree. I think it would be great to break the record currently held with Gunsmoke but even more so Law and Order is a quality show PERIOD. After the Jay Leno fiasco one would think that NBC would refrain from making any changes that would create a great deal of controversy. This decision certainly has created a maelstrom that will not enhance NBC’s reputation. Is there any possible way this decision can be reversed? Can we persuade the the powers that be to keep Law and Order? I hope so.
Glad to see this left-wing drivel canned at last.
I am a republican but I cannot DISAGREE with you more. Law & Order is the best show on television ever . 20 years to prove it . Should not have been canceled , but any show with Anthony Anderson is cursed, Even though he is a fine actor & comedian every show he’s on get’s canceled.
No, they can’t cancel Law & Order!! It is the most intelligent show on, so well written and acted. There is so much trash on. Law and Order is an example of how good television can be.
Another AMEN about the garbage on cable today. We’re all better off going to the “You Tube” site to watch the reruns of the better programing there was was long before commercials began to infiltrate our viewing enjoyment. Cable is at best re-directing me to build up my own DVD collection and begin enjoying my library again. Shesh!
Seems every time i really love a show, series, or anything it dissapears. My whole family watches this show every night, including my 24 year old autistic daughter. She loves it. I think they should reconsider & keep it on.
Even if Law and Order’s NBC ratings aren’t that great, it still is a cash cow for NBC/Universal due to the constant TNT retuns.
It makes no damn sense to cancel the show one season away from beating Gunsmoke, no matter how bad the NBC ratings are.
Hopefully, most of NBC’s new dramas will fail (the GOOD) ones usually do (Life, Raines, Journeyman) and NBC will be forced to pick up the show as a mid season replacement.
PS. I’m 35 and autistic too. Look me up on facebook
In my opinion, this is by far one of the most stupid things NBC has done to date!!
Please don’t cancel Law and Order. It is my and my friends favorite of all of the shows and spin offs they have done. Please keep the Law and Order. It is the best of all of them. It has more variety than SVU. Their shows are always so dark and depressing.
I agree about SVU (not so much on the darkness end of it) but the self-righteous and propagandizing screenwriting. And I like Sharon Stone, but on SVU? As a detective? WTF?
Also, L&O in LA…again WTF? L&O is ABOUT NEW YORK themes and the richness of culture and atmosphere. How in the hades is that going to fly in LA? Oh, with more stereotypical themes about how awful the minorities and the poor people are? Are we now to feel sorry for Dick Wolf’s new set of friends where crime afflicts them and how bad we should all feel about it? Forgetaboutit!
I would totally take Law and Order to TNT. I never watch NBC. I have always seen Law and Order on Direct TV on TNT.
Good riddance to “Law and Order”. Twenty years of that formulaic drivel is enough. I can only imagine that the reason it lasted 20 years is because NBC has been in the ratings basement for the last 5 years or so. Agenda-driven television!
I am so happy Law and Order is on the chopping block. I’m sick to death listening to the liberal social commentary that’s spewed each week. There’s a reason why it has “soft ratings”! People are sick to death of Hollywood preaching to them. Good decision!!!!!!!!!!!
Anon, are you serious? L&O has lately been preaching the very opposite t any libral social commentary issues. I loved this show for the longest time after 1992. However, the material after 9/11 has become more on the anti-liberal social end of it and they did not preach as much if at all (and if I wanted that, I’ll watch the Fox channel) about political issues BEFORE 9/11 , now, that is when I began getting tired of the show. The TNT reruns pre-9/11 are very well-written. Now if you want the OPPOSITE of what you are speaking of, just go to the E! channel and watch the Kardashians, that bogus insulting Chelsea idiot and the other road-side reality mess and you’ll be fit and fiddle as a lark. Not me.
I LOVE THIS SHOW AND YOU WOULD BE LOSING MY VIEWING IF YOU CANCEL THIS. I HAVE WATCHED THIS SHOW SINCE THE BEGINNING WITH GEORGE DZUNDZA AND CHRIS NOTH! THE ORIGINAL DETECTIVES. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN NBC. IT SHOULD, FOR ONCE BE ABOUT THE AUDIENCE INSTEAD OF THE FREAKIN DOLLAR!!!!!
PISSED OFF MOM IN FLORIDA!
NBC is consistently dropping the ball
Cancelling Law and Order, Mercy and the debacle of Jay Leno vs
late night and the shafting of Conan OBrien….
What do they think they are running? NBC loses money & marketshare hand over fist. Consumer loyalty is more important now than ever before in this media.
NBC is getting the reputation of a network you cannot trust either as a sponsor, viewer or feature writer/production company. ..The sponsors will head to viral, its cheaper, faster, and more profitable. It also has a great deal more timely appeal.
Mercy and L&O head to HULU and get away from the networks…Their time is over…
do what u have to do to keep program on tv
It really stinks! Someone get with it an order new episodes. What will TV be like without L&O? We need the 21st year.
Hello A&E; TNT; and the ever bunch of screwups NBC.
I am furious that NBC cancelled Law and Order. What are we going to do between 9 – 11 pm? First, NBC tried to mess us up by moving Jay Leno to 10 pm and we made them eat their words and put him back. The same people who love Jay are also Law and Order addicts. There is nothing sane on TV with all of these crazy reality shows. Law is Order is for intelligent people and NBC has proven once again that they don’t get it.
PUT LAW AND ORDER BACK ON–ALL OF THEM!
Stephanie M.
I couldn’t believe it when I heard the news of the cancellation. I’ve been a fan for the whole 20 years. I hope it continues on TNT, since NBC are making the stupid mistake of taking it off the air. Mr. Wolf you are doing a great job. Please continue with the original Law and Order.
The very dumbest thing you did was to cancel Law and Order…….
Cannot stand the new one or the actors-stinks!
I loved the original Law and Order. I didn’t miss an episode. I hope they bring it back with Linus Roache and Alana de la Garza.
Linus is a fine actor, and deserved an Emmy.
There may be 7 other Law & Orders, but none are as good as the original. There is so very little on TV that is worth watching, and L&O (the original) was definitely a “must” watch. I am a fan of SVU, but none of the other L&Os have lived up to the original. What will I watch instead of L&O, probably nothing, I’ll just get in an extra hour of reading.
I quit L&A seasons ago. Got tired of the conservative bashing. I may give up on svu with their recent bent. My husband has already tuned them out.
Life long Christian conservative
less music more voice
I still cannot believe the original Law and Order is cancelled. It leaves a very bad taste in my mouth toward NBC despite showing the new offshoot L&O Los Angeles. There has been nothing I’ve found as addictive and grounding in my life as the original. PLEASE reconsider, I cannot imagine life without Law and Order. Thank you.
No! They can’t cancel it! I’ve been addicted to it for years! Interesting that I’ve often heard other people refer to their addiction to L and O. It’s a great show with a solid premise. I’ll bet that TNT picks it up.
Didn’t see that coming.
Of course like a lot of people I didn’t see Law & Order for about 5-6 years either.
I used to be a big L&O fan, but the show got so damn predictable, I had to give it up. But I always thought NBC would keep it going just for the sake of keeping it going.
Predictable? Based on what? The story lines were taken from the latest headlines. New York and everywhere else. It was the most relevant show on TV.
NO!!
Wow!! I’m almost embarrassed to say I’ve watched the mothership for almost all its seasons it was on, and was hoping it would break the record. It had a great run. Don’t know if we’ll see that again on prime time.
AND we never will either. Nothing any more is about creativity where writing is concerned anymore. What happen to the true-story mini-series any way?
L&O was too dangerously intelligent for us because it would actually makes us think. With that, it seems in the last 15 years that any of the best will no longer be introduced to so many of us. It seems that for the financial obsession of NBC, ABC, AND CBS —that it is cheaper to film reality shows about anyone that they can film to argue and tear into each other and on top of that, there is nothing but watching commercials every damned 5 minutes any way. It was coming to this, but I never thought that it would happen so soon to all of the networks.
I agree, we need some more reality crap that Is so stupid, but cheap to put on the air….. So dumb!Who with any Intelligence watches It?
You are catering to Ignorance……
Too bad. This version is so much better than SVU, especially this year with Sharon Stone.
Rest in Peace, Lenny.
Jerry Orbach (R.I.P.) was terrific as Lennie Briscoe (and many other roles over his lifetime). That said, for me, Richard Belzer as Detective Munch and Ice-T as Detective Fin are just as solid in their respective roles on SVU.
I agree
Couldn’t agree more. SVU is sensational drivel with a lead actress that can’t muster up any facial expression other than the slack-jawed one that looks like she just smelled a fart. I thought perhaps the franchise was on the right path by finally dumping VDO from Criminal Intent. The team on L&O now is a good one. The loss of S.Epatha Merkerson on L&O is a big one, but not one that couldn’t be fixed with the right cast member. SVU is the one that needs the axe.
I completely didn’t see that coming, only because the pres said it would be back.
Then again, they ALSO said Conan was going to host The Tonight Show – and we all know how quickly they took THAT back.
I had a feeling this was going happen. But like all of you I loved law&order too. U know it debuted one year after NBC canceled Mimai Vice in ’89. But Law&Order Los Angeles should be interesting.
Well I hope Dick Wolfe gives this show a long deserving finale to wrap things up. This last group of actors, the DA politics I enjoyed.
It’ll be interesting to see how long they give the Los Angeles version to take off. The “Trial by Jury” incarnation was enjoyable, but NBC didn’t give it a chance to find an audience.
I suppose that’s standard network operating procedure: If a show doesn’t take off immediately, they dump it. Remember “Justice” on Fox a few years ago? That show was fantastic, but if you blinked you probably missed it because they didn’t give it a chance. It was gone in one season.
Oh no…..
this is sad. This season (and the last couple, frankly) have been fantastic. How sad. I can’t believe it.
And stupid, overwraught SVU is on the air….
It’s always easier to keep a proven, formatted show going than it is to start a new one, even if its ratings are so-so, because the long-term revenue stream is immense. Maybe Dick Wolf wanted too rich a deal, richer than he is probably already getting. It’s sad to lose a New York show.
I gave up Law & Order a long, long time ago. It used to be my favorite show, but it just became so preachy and formulaic that I finally had to move on.
Yes. Used to be ‘ripped from the headlines’ – then when the headliners were not politically correct any more dating from back to the Puerto Rican parade situation and the Clinton impeachment the plots contorted themselves to try to cast the headline story with Hollywood approved villains and PC victims. Finally they gave that up too and there were no more ‘headline’ shows just bits and pieces of sensational stories stuck together in implausible plots. A lot of the substance left when Michael Moriarty left and a lot more left with Steven Hill and Jerry Orbach and now its an all too familiar formula without any substance.
Is there any reason why they don’t show the Michael Moriarity shows on re-runs? He was fantastic.
Do they think the shows are to old or something?
If don’t mind getting up at 4:00am you can see the residuals on TNT featuring Michael Moriarity,George Dzunda and Chris Noth.
I agree w/ you completely abt Michael Moriarty, Geoff. He was fantastic and I still miss him on Law & Order. I never completely warmed up to Sam Waterston, although I can’t lie, he has had his moments of greatness on that show. The only way I can watch the Michael Moriarty episodes, short of buying the boxed sets or buying a computer and watching them online, (and for me to be able to afford either option, somebody please tell me what tonight’s Powerball numbers are going to be) is staying up til 4 in the morning and watching an episode or two, if they even have the Michael Moriarty episodes that day. I used to be able to do that, no more.
On another note, I have enjoyed the newest addition to the franchise, LOLA, but I do have a complaint. What in the h**l was Dick Wolf thinking when he decided to go w/o having a theme???! The theme at the start of every Law & Order helps rev you up for the episode. Mike Post has done a fantastic making the theme for each similar to one another but different and powerful in its own way. I honestly can say I don’t like the show quite as much w/o the theme.
Dick Wolf must be spinning in his coffin.
He’s not dead.
He may be now. . .
Who said anything about being dead?
I said so.
Wow, I hope this isn’t true. Granted the show has been limping along for a while, but it still has solid and interesting plot lines. If NBC decides to pass on it, maybe it can find another life on cable. Most network TV shows these days aren’t nearly as interesting as what you can find on cable anyway.
It’s crap. They can keep L&O:LA and shove it where the sun don’t shine. BS. BS. BS. BS. BS.
And NBC wonders why is sucks- it’s because they announce what their business model is with the aptly named “Biggest Loser.”
I’m done.
I’m sitting shiva. And once again, in its handling of this major decision, NBC shows no respect for its staff/shows/etc.
Interesting. Other sites are reporting cancellation talk premature and negotiations ongoing. Curious to see how it all shakes out.
I am glad I watch Law and Order this season after long break from not watching it’s unwatchable I haven’t seen great Law and Order episode since death of Jerry Orbach it shadow of former self
Jerry was the absolute best! I sure do miss “Lennie” and awfully glad for re-runs on TNT!
Oh hell NO! F*** NBC!
Futon Critic is reporting that negotiations are still ongoing. Obviously someone’s source is wrong.
Do these people have any brains at all? NO. Continually the best crime drama on TV. When NBC juggles things nothing good happens.
Did Zucker sign off on this or did he bring it up…probably.
You are so right! Thank god that idiot Zucker wasn’t in charge of NBC in the 80’s and 90’s or we wouldn’t have had such classics as Cheers, Seinfeld or Friends.
There is nothing on his watch that screams Must Watch TV.
Sorry, hated Friends and Seinfeld (That is, until their asses ended up arrested in the final episode—good riddance)! Cheers was so-so.
I watch three L & O reruns every day, plus the first runs once a week.
Vincent D’Onofrio is my favourite by far. L & O was always a good no nonsense show. I don’t like SVU’s constant dabbling in the main characters’ psychological make-up to run plotlines.
I’m going to write three different “L&O” stories, publish ’em all and I’m gonna “TOLDJA!” all on Sunday.
It is over for me and NBC if this is true and they cancel Law & Order. The whole debacle with Conan has shown that TPTB will run this network into the ground. I don’t care if this fall NBC has the next “Friends” on–I won’t be watching ever again.
Finally.
It is surprising but it has been 20 years. Enough is enough.
