From Deadline|London editor Tim Adler: Gillian Anderson will appear in Channel 4’s new four-part drama Any Human Heart, based on the William Boyd novel. Kim Cattrall (Sex and the City) also stars with Matthew Macfadyen (Pride And Prejudice) and Oscar-winner Jim Broadbent. Macfadyen and Broadbent both play a novelist whose life ricochets from Paris in the 1920s to 50s New York and London in the 80s. Along the way he meets Ernest Hemingway, Ian Fleming and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor – the exiled British king and his strict lover. Sounds great. Carnival Film & Television is making the series for Channel 4. It will air later this year. For those of you who don’t know, Boyd is one of Britain’s best novelists. Recently, he’s started writing upmarket thrillers, like his World War II novel Restless.
