ABC’s new Alyssa Milano comedy series Romantically Challenged got off to a so-so start Monday, averaging a 3.1 rating/8 share among adults 18-49 and 11.6 million viewers in its premiere. That was in line with the premiere performance in the time slot of ABC’s short-lived sitcom Surviving Suburbia last year (3.0/7) — but short of the debut of Samantha Who (4.5) in the same time period in 2007 with a similar Dancing with the Stars lead-in. Romantically Challenged finished second in the 9:30-10 p.m. slot behind a rerun of CBS’ The Big Bang Theory.
With CBS’ top comedies Big Bang and Two and a Half Men in repeats, Dancing (4.7/13) was the top program Monday night but continued to slip week-to-week. Tying for second place in the demo were Big Bang (4.0/10) and new House (4.0/12) on Fox. ABC won the night (3.8/10, 15.8 million), followed by CBS (3.4/9, 10.2 million)
