The Best Picture win for The Hurt Locker came too late to change its place in Hollywood history as the lowest grossing top prize winner in memory. But the Best Documentary win by The Cove, on the other hand, will help the controversial film get seen in Japan, where director Louie Psihoyos filmed the annual slaughter of dolphins in the fishing village of Taji. The film will open there in May or June.  Except for a screening at the Tokyo Film Festival, which in and of itself was hard fought, the film bypassed Japan after legal threats were made.
