That is flipping awesome. My doubts over this movie have been somewhat alleviated.
I love the song the used for this one. Looking forward to the film.
Looks promising in the trailer just like every other M. Night Shamalamadingdong movie, until you actually see it that is…
Everyone’s tired of people slaughtering his name. Get over it. It’s become a cheap parody to continuously make fun of the same director’s last name in the same way for about 10 years. The hate is passe, and belongs back in middle-school.
yeah, but the comment about the trailer vs quality of the film tends to be true, unfortunately, time and time again…
This looks good, the movie may succeed yet.
I guess M. Night Shyamalan just needed a genre change to get his mojo back…
When I saw M. Night Shyamalan attached, my first thought was ‘OMG! Now he’s making a martial arts musical.’-but then I noticed that Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall were on board as well, so there must be some quality to this film. Interesting scenery, considering it was filmed in Pennsylvania.
This is a parody, right? I mean, it’s not a real film, is it?
“In a world consumed by darkness”?????
C’mon. Tell me the truth. This is the beginning of a super bowl commercial for Axe men’s body spray, right????
Isn’t that how the SCORCHER trailer started at the beginning of TROPIC THUNDER?
“From M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN”
“M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN’s “Last Airbender”
“Written, Produced and Directed by M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN”
Hey…does M. Night Shyamalan have something to do with this movie?
Exactly…do they actually think splashing his name all over the trailer is a GOOD thing? M. Night = Box Office Poison these days.
Looks like M. Night needed a big paycheck.
Westons movie from nick. Sounds like they will get their asses kick again for marketing it to the wrong crowd. Heh? Hope they don’t forget about the other market. ADULTS!
Take it from someone who has watched all the episodes of Last Airbender and is now an adult. This is a quality storyline here. People who fail to recognize the genius in plot for stories and shows like this are truly missing out. Most western movies and cartoons have been played out, but this cartoon styled in the japanese way (I know it’s from Nick) is really great. I am definitely hoping this one could help open up a new area for american movies.
Dragon Ball Z was not an example of what it can be like, if they truly play to the ‘dark’ or ‘twisted’ elements found in these story lines, also I never found DBZ to be any good anyway.
That’s the problem D–you have to take it from someone who is familiar with the property. To the layman, it looks exactly like Dragonball, but with Night’s name splashed all over it, which means zero, if not less. Even if the reviews are great enough to make people look twice, at best it goes in the same category with Crouching Tiger and Hero, both of which were made for far less money.
Isn’t this based on previous material? I think it’s lame M. Night puts his name all over it when he isn’t the original artist behind the concept. ADAPTED BY perhaps, but WRITTEN BY. Give credit where credit is due, please… And do you really need to see your name 3 times in a trailer? Jeez.
M. Night Scam-a-lot will fuck up this film as he does with everything.
He’s a hack and a phony.
more self indulgent crap from m night. if his last 3 movies are any indication of this one’s probable lack of anything resembling a cohesive storyline or actual payoff/reveal… oh forget it…more empty garbage from a one trick hack.
D is correct. This is a very good story. Having seen the entire series numerous times the movie has excellent source material.
I’ve lost faith in M. Night to craft a good story, however the trailer looks promising.
Also take it from someone who IS an adult when he watched all the Last Airbender series and crapped himself with joy. Harry Potter is Luke Skywalker in Middle Earth – but somehow not contrived.
This is a story filled with dynamic characters, great three season arc, beginning middle and end, not to mention great and original fight choreography.
The question is whether this kid can pull off the main character of Aang and whether this will be like any other M Night movie not released in 1999.
00:26 makes the movie worth seeing at least once!
