EXCLUSIVE: I’m told Harvey Weinstein has unexpectedly resigned from the board of Live Nation. My sources say the reason is because he’s going to be in business with S2BN Entertainment Corporation. “Makes sense. HW is going back to his roots since he started as a concert promoter in Buffalo,” one of my experts explained when I told him the news just now. Of course, Live Nation and Ticketmaster (which is controlled by Barry Diller) are merging. The new board will be 50% Live Nation designees and 50% Ticketmaster designees. So Harvey may have not made the cut anyway.

If you’re not familiar with S2BN, it’s basically a small competitor to Live Nation and has offices in NY, Miami and Toronto. It’s headed by Michael Cohl who originally sold his company to Live Nation. This is how S2BN describes itself: a diversified international family show and event entertainment company specializing in the acquisition, development and production of high caliber touring exhibitions, unique live music tours and events, theatrical performances, and consumer and multimedia product offerings. It spans all types of global venues – from stadiums to theaters.
