I heard this early this morning, and now it’s confirmed, that screenwriter and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Chabon has left his longtime agents at CAA to be represented by UTA. This comes after a heated signing battle between UTA and Endeavor to represent the novelist of The Amazing Adventures Of Kavalier & Clay, The Yiddish Policeman’s Union, Wonder Boys and Summerland. Chabon also wrote on Spider-Man 2 and scripted John Carter Of Mars for Disney. UTA will rep Chabon in collaboration with his New York publishing rep Mary Evans and attorney David Colden. The Hollywood agency also recently signed author-screenwriter Richard Price from CAA and up-and-coming literary star Josh Bazell who wrote The New York Times best-seller Beat The Reaper, which is being developed as a feature by New Regency and Appian Way for Leonardo DiCaprio to star.
