Ugh, how many times is this Downfall bit going to get recycled? It was maybe funny on the Blu-ray thing, and on every team in the country’s latest loss, but really, the Watchman?
The one where he loses his XBox Live account is much funnier.
Have to say I agree. Framing Dr. Manhatten makes absolutely no sense at all with the way the book ends. “This is a masterpiece. I will copy everything from the book. Well, except Veidt’s suit. Oh, and I can probably come up with a better ending.” Is it a masterpiece? Yes. Do these people think so? No. They cannot be genuine to make a movie of a book that the author himself does not want made.
I had never seen it this way. I thought it was very clever!
so there should have only been one LOL cat – that would have been really funny, right?
I don’t get it? Is this an inside joke?
That was hilarious!!! I love the person who sent this in! Thank you!
This shit is really getting old.
I prefer the Brett Favre retirement one.
The one where he is informed that the Giants beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl is hysterical.
The people stressing out over the minutiae of the changes that were made should instead focus their efforts on getting out of their parents’ basements and meeting somebody of the opposite sex.
@Moe you better not let Rabble, Rabble see your comment which I happen to think is funny (and so will Francis Urquhart) but boy is Rabble, Rabble testy about another geek joke where sexuality is involved!
Having grown up as a geek I think it’s got some truth to it though so I laugh at this sort of stuff because I dig self-deprecating humor Because if you can’t laugh at yourself you don’t have as much geek cred and humanity as you should.
Did I mention that one of my big beefs with Watchmen is that it looks like it lacks humanity or mensch-ness? It’s got some right purty art direction and whiz-bang FX but seriously you could have made the whole thing with tricked out Second Life avatars. Oy!
Oddly enough this was not unlike my brother’s reaction to the ommission of Tom Bombadil from the first “Lord Of the Rings” movie. Except, my brother doesn’t speak German.
With all due respect to your brother, leaving out Bombadil was the single greatest creative decision Jackson made with the LOTR trilogy.
He’s boring, unfunny and completely unimportant to the story. At all.
If he’d been left in, we’d have HOBBITS: THE MUSICAL.
Like most other fan made bits, it wears out its welcome very fast and needs to be trimmed by half…Oh, and mildly amusing rather than funny.
Luzid, I happen to agree with you – Bombadil would have stopped the movie dead in its tracks. But to my brother any deviation from the text was sacrilege.
That said, and in relation to Watchmen, there are reasons related to what the “villain” is trying to achieve why it should be the space squid rather than an attempt to frame Dr. Manhattan.
Zak’s ending made much more sense. “Realistically” bioengineering a giant telepathic squid was pushing it. And if they could create that technology, it stands to reason it could be unraveled. You know every scientist in the world would be studying it. This was smarter, more elegant, more true to the underlying message.
Just watched the flick – Giant Squid? no no no – it ended smoothly with much fun in CGI destruction – which is exactly how those of us 17yo in th 80’s felt would happen anyway…
Now, that’s ‘Inside Baseball’ for you.
