For a long time now talent agents have been household names in Hollywood. Less so the tenpercentery business affairs execs even though they’re the well-oiled machinery inside the agencies. So it’s news that United Talent is expanding its business affairs department to include a pair of vets: Jim Meenaghan, mostly recently of Walden Media, who’s the new head of Motion Picture Business Affairs, and Rich Shuter, most recently of DreamWorks Television who’s the new chief of Television Business Affairs. Meenaghan will work closely with Board members and Motion Picture Lit partners Jeremy Zimmer and David Kramer along with partner and Independent Film group head Richard Klubeck on film financing strategies for UTA-packaged features. Shuter will work closely with Board member Jay Sures and television partners and department heads Matt Rice and Michael Camacho, who oversee scripted and unscripted television, respectively. “Jim and Rich are respected executives whose depth of experience and relationships throughout our industry will be tremendous assets to our growing team at UTA,” said UTA Chairman Jim Berkus in making the announcement.
