Talk about a shocker: sources tell me that very respected Beth Berke, senior executive vp and chief administrative officer at Sony Pictures Entertainment, has been fired. No public announcement has been made — nary a mention in Variety, for instance — but an interoffice email has gone out about her exiting. Supposedly, she’ll be doing “consulting” for the studio but that’s just politesse. Hollywood’s legal community is especially reeling because Berke was considered one of the few execs who actually made the trains run on schedule at the studio, so to speak. As for the reason for her axing, sources tell me it had to do with friction between her and SPE chairman Michael Lynton. Well, her exit does come on the heels of Lynton’s contract re-signing.
Did Sony's Door Hit Her On The Way Out?
