Earlier in the summer I chronicled a catfight between Sony and Disney over counting the worldwide grosses for Spider-Man 3 vs. Pirates Of the Caribbean 3. (May I never get caught in the middle of a Hollywood brawl like that again!) Well, now the two studios are purring pleasantries. I hear that behind the scenes Sony is ready to congratulate Disney on the very real possibility that the Jack Sparrow threequel will pass the Peter Parker threequel in global gross receipts very soon (maybe even by the end of this weekend). Tobey may have made it faster overall and bigger domestically, but Johnny has sea legs still stronger overseas. To their credit, both movies made it over the $800 million worldwide mark. The latest totals show Spider-Man 3 with $875 million global gross, and Pirates 3 with $840 million.
