No, it’s not a new Pellicano 24/7 blog. Instead, two-day-old HollywoodWiretap.com is trying to be a Showbiz Drudge Report. I wanted to wait until it was up-and-running to comment, and, now that it is, I like it a lot (and not just because founder Tom Tapp has been exceedingly kind to me and Deadline Hollywood Daily, although that helps a lot!). Tapp worked as an editor at Variety for seven years and helped create V Life. Before that, he helped launch and edit E! Online. Defamer.com does a great job keeping up on The Celeb Scandal Du Jour (and its muse Mark Lisanti is one of the funniest guys on the planet). There’s FishbowlLA which combines original reporting with aggregating (former Variety scribe Claude Brodesser recently took over from Michael Sonnenschein). Also, IWantMedia.com collects info about Big Media from places you may not have even heard of (and founder Patrick Phillips is an adjunct journalism professor at NYU and knows his stuff). But Tapp’s HW is trying to be a one-stop-shop linking to coverage of films and TV and celebs and media, and I think that makes it a must on your Favorites list for an aggregator covering all that.
